The project cannot escape the need for *some* kind of monetization. However, I suggest any monetization not occur "nilly-willy" but deliberatively and co-operatively. Can I suggest we consider some alignment (and separation) between what the "project" would agree and seek to monetize, and what individual support companies may agree and seek to monetize?

I would be leery of us chasing any untargeted any maybe even targeted funds, if the latter may need to be shared, until we would have clearer agreement on what would be the "owning GNUmed organization".

We should at least be aware of

http://www.nsgic.org/hottopics/strategic_plan_template.pdf

and, before we would make arbitrary stabs at fundraising, take into account:

"In the end, we raise money from people who:

• Have it
• Can afford to give
• Are sold on the benefit of what we are doing
• Wouldn't have given it to us unless we had asked
• Receive appreciation and respect for their gifts"

for specific new phases or especially "optional" functionality or modules in GNUmed development, we might at some point consider to use Confundos:

in the mean time I would repoint us to what I think are some other critical project dependencies (posted under How to build GNUmed packages) if we are to help GNUmed achieve some basic "critical mass"
