Have you actually started to work on that? If yes, what have you
done yet, if not, have you made some more planning on that?

no visible progress to report, unfortunately. however, i've rethought
the irc-style communication angle and am now leaning away from creating
some half-baked protocol and instead towards using freenet...

ok, i've just created a task list, roughly arranged in order of
dependency, which i will maintain (converting "-" to "+" as things
complete, and adding subtasks):

  http://www.glug.org/gumm/TODO.txt

i reserve the first task for myself, but any other ones are open for
grabbing (please discuss on this list first to prevent duplicated work).
anyone who helps should be prepared to license their work under GNU GPL
(or analogous documentation license). however, copyright assignment is
not required.

lastly, to prevent misunderstanding, my expectations are that GUMM will
reasonably follow GNU standards, be implemented in Guile scheme, and be
extensible in the right places.
