Yeah, this happens sometimes and will hide these references from what is a 
simple and therefore very fast string search.

It's why we install uncompressed .jar files and disable an obscure (and 
arguably unnoticable) GCC optimisation that hacks strings into incontiguous 
chunks.  If BEAM somehow obfuscates store references we'll have to find a 
similar work-around to stop it.  Let us know what you find.
