configure bison

Hi,
When I run ./configure for installing bison-1.28, is it normal for it to take
more than 5 minutes after finding the C compiler ("checking whether the C
compiler (gcc  ) works...") and spawn hundreds of instances of "cpp -lang-c
-Asystem(unix) -Asystem(svr4) -Acpu(sparc) -Amachine(sparc) -Asyste..."?

System is Solaris 8 on Sun Blade 100 (UltraSPARC-IIe).
