I'd be content with compile-time options to include one regex lib vs another. An embedded third-party full-blown interpreter might be a tad overkill....

isn't there a way to let users expand cfengine?  i'm also a newbie
and can't get myself accustomed to a thing which is a language and
not a language at the same time.  how about an embedded interpreter
like lua <URL:http://www.lua.org/> or one of the embeddable lisps?
