what comes to mind, is that a version of g++ generates code optimized
for a given target (say, i686) where the others no... or that the
standard libraries (libstdc++, glibc) were generated for different
cpus... or that a version of g++ uses different floating point
options that the others... did you ./configure and make yourself to
build gcc and/or libraries?
