I don't think it's doing a full update. It's really just adding a line to
the Entries file. In this particular case, that looks like an update.
Sometimes status is supposed to write to the Entries file - to update
timestamps and maybe save time next time you run status, but I agree that
this particular case is a bug. I opened an issue:
http://ccvs.cvshome.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=17 . Add yourself to the
issue's CC list if you want to track it.
