I wouldn't call myself an expert to CVS yet...but I've been using it
for about 3 months now.
For CVS server installation, I had it installed on a Linux Box...so if
that is the case for you, the following link I found very useful:

For CVS client, I recommand SmartCVS which I found is much better than
WinCVS.
