No, you shouldn't!  :-)

Actually, I use both CVS and Subversion, and there are things I like and 
dislike about both.  But they are both far superior to VSS in every respect.

For pure source code, ease of branching/tagging, scripting hooks, ease of 
administration (or maybe it's just my own familiarity with it), I prefer 
CVS.  CVS runs on virtually any *nix variant.  However, to run a CVS server 
on Windows, you need CVSNT.

For source code that includes many binary files, and for its revision 
numbering scheme, I prefer Subversion.  The Subversion server will run on 
both *nix and Windows.

TortoiseCVS and TortoiseSVN provide very similar interfaces to their 
respective systems, which makes switching between them frequently during the 
course of a day very easy.  They are both quite good.
