Gnus pretty much gives you everything and lets you decide how to
config and weed out what you don't need.  Trn is a little too basic,
for me.  slrn is a good compromise and one of the better newsreaders
out there.  It's like a compromise between gnus and trn.  Note the
"rn", as in Trn, from which slrn evolved from.  I'd use gnus if I
could configure it to work/look like slrn, which some of the emacs
gurus have done, but why bother.  Actually, I do use gnus for NNTP on
a thumbdrive/eee netbook.  My biggest problem with gnus, is, I can't
remember all the damn options/keybindings.  It's like my new digital
camera.  I gotta keep referring back to the manual.  ;)
