I am not having much luck with this patch under Cygwin. In my test build, even though configure says that shared libraries are enabled, libtool doesn't provide the --shared option to gcc when it builds the library. The output from 'libtool --config' is the same as it was for a successful build on October 14. I find this to be most peculiar since the file_magic_cmd option should have changed. The new code which should assign it the value 'win32_libid' is quite clearly in the configure script I am running. How odd.
Err, I ran the whole test suite using it...Is it possible that there's something else on my system that's enabling an ostensibly broken libtool tree to work properly, or something on your system that's preventing an ostensibly working libtool tree from doing so? Where should I look?
Hmm...did you get the ltmain.in/sh change -- that is, in your generated libtool script, is win32_libid() defined?
