Oh, that's my bad, adding and removal in either direction are manual.
I forgot to tla commit after tla add objectlist.test, so the log lines are
harmless there.  I also forgot to `cvs rm -f' the two Makefile.ams after I
replayed the patch.  Unfortunately, arch handles all of this stuff
automagically across merges, so I keep forgetting that cvs is so stupid.  Sorry.

Nothing to do with branches, but essentially yes, the fact that I have to
remember to tell CVS manually about file additions and removals is the bug.
