Josh,
Often times -Xlinker will work when -Wl, fails.
Let us know if it works.

Subject: How to specify a version script?
I'm trying to build a library with some versioned symbols, and I can't
seem to figure out how to get libtool to not eat these options.
I tried -Wl,--version-script=sym.vers
in the ...._LDFLAGS variable (automake). This is being passed
correctly to libtool, but somewhere inside libtool this argument
disappears.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
