I should have mentioned that it was run through convert-ly.

I have looked at the lily*.tex files for these two cases, and can't
see very much difference. Here are the lilypondpaper statements that
differ:

serpe.tex:\def\lilypondpapercm{10.000000}%
serpe.tex:\def\lilypondpaperin{25.400000}%
serpe.tex:\def\lilypondpapermm{1.000000}%
serpe.tex:\def\lilypondpaperpt{0.351460}%
serpe.tex:\def\lilypondpaperscmsetting{(lilyponddefs.ps) findlibfile {exch pop
//systemdict /run get exec} { /undefinedfilename signalerror } ifelse
propos.tex:\def\lilypondpaperscmsetting{(lilyponddefs.ps) findlibfile {exch pop
//systemdict /run get exec} { /undefinedfilename signalerror } ifelse
propos.tex:\def\lilypondpaperscmsetting{(lilyponddefs.ps) findlibfile {exch pop
//systemdict /run get exec} { /undefinedfilename signalerror } ifelse

I can email the actual .tex files to anyone who wants to see these in
context. Here are the lilypond files:

Attachment: propos-tenor.ly
Description: Text document

Attachment: serpe-tenor.ly
Description: Binary data

The previous problem is minor -- you would expect to have to fiddle
with page breaks when you go to a new version, but being able to set
margins via the geometry package is important.
