What now?  I have a few suggestions I don't agree with really and don't
know whether there is more of a discussion warranted now.

Harm brought a few points, one concerning different warning/error
behavior (and with regard to the _text_ of the existing warning, I will
cede the point thought there isn't yet a proposal for \voices as far as
I can see).  He also pointed out that this calls for changing more of
the preexisting documentation.  Again, I'll cede that this would make
sense but I consider it separate work where I'd be glad that someone
else would tackle it.

So how to proceed?  Formally this patch went through countdown, but for
one thing I stated that I was going to do a rename anyway, and for
another, there were several points raised.  I'm just very ambiguous on
addressing them.  For most of the bike-shedding I lean towards just
canning it for now since I prefer the current proposal.  For some
improvement suggestions I'd appreciate more concrete proposals fitting
with \voices.

I think I'll upload the current, renamed patch and then wait to see what
other feedback I feel I can sensibly incorporate.
