OK well something must have changed since I last did a build on WSL
because I couldn't even get `make all' on a freshly checked out master
to work. And that was *definitely* working before.

It fails now with this error:
Making Documentation/out/en/changes.texi < tely
lilypond-book.py: error: file not found: version.itexi

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 on WSL 2. My normal Linux system doesn't have
the same problem.

I cannot even get autogen.sh to run!

-bash: ./autogen.sh: /bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

This appears to be caused by a line ending difference betwen *nix and Windows.

Ugh. So much for WSL. I keep running into issues like this and yet some people keep insisting to me that WSL == Linux (or as good as).

Oh well. So much for compiling on WSL.

Thanks for taking the time. I cannot recall what error I had now - the machine that WSL is on is a work machine so I tend to keep it clear of personal stuff but I was curious and had some time on my hands - but I do remember being able to build LilyPond just not the doc.

I'll check again next week, maybe try an earlier version of Ubuntu if such a thing exists on MS marketplace these days.

Hi James,

I'm pretty sure that I managed this, but I may not have gone as far as
a full doc build, but I think I managed install-info. I will try to
make time to verify and get back to you.

Hello,

Has anyone on this list recently (within the last year or so) ever
managed to build LP and its Doc using WSL - specifically version 2 (I am
using Ubuntu 20.04)?

Every now and again I go back and reclone the entire git dir and go
through the setting up of software dependencies etc. but I've never
managed ever to get a full doc build to complete.

I haven't done any useful debugging as I have a linux box that works
fine so it's not a huge deal but I was wondering if anyone on this list
had ever tried on WSL and got it to work.
