Dear Malte,

I see another option:
4. Add this ornament to Feta.

SMuFL is a good argument for that, if we want to support it some day. Would you, Lukas, be willing to wait for 2.21.0 and use that or compile your own LilyPond? Then I’d try to add such a glyph to Feta in the next few weeks.

This would be wonderful - thanks very very much!
TBH, I don't think this is really a question of me being willing to wait (the parts I am typesetting are going to be needed in about 1-2 months, but of course nothing prohibits recompiling them at a later point of time): If it were such an out-of-place need, I think you shouldn't bother (Joram's \combined sign being quite a satisfactory replacement), but since it is a ornament that is regularly used by a major composer, and it has a place in SMuFL, I think Lilypond should have this character in the long run, and if my request provided enough momentum and motivation for you to get working, I should be happy!

Can I help in any way?

And since you ask: Of course I would be willing to compile my own LilyPond, but I must confess I have no idea how hard it is to do so. I work on a Linux Mint machine; can one give a reasonable estimate of the effort needed to switch to self-compiled?

Best
Lukas
