version 2.18.2 does everything I need and have been using it for
years and don't want to deal with compatibility issues..
It's not an all-or-nothing decision. There is no problem to install
several versions of LilyPond in parallel, so you can choose to use
version 2.22 for new scores while keeping your old scores in 2.18
and still making adjustments from time to time without updating the
syntax.
