This looks like you have done something like

{ c'\custdyn "p" }

instead of

{ c'\custdyn "{p}" }

The code tries to center the first (by default) dynamic
(i.e., "{...}") part encountered in the custom dynamic
text under the note. If there is no dynamic part, this
doesn't work.
