While layout engine works with rectangles and doesn't care much what
those rectangles are, unicode support will require extensive changes
to the frontend and backends.
If anyone is interested in discussing gory technical details of
Unicode support, please drop me a private email. If there's
sufficient interest I'll set up a separate mailing list.
