I don't think this is mentioned explicitly in the documentation, but
Jeff mentioned it on the list that Lout assumes that all galley
components have the same width and that this assumption is hardwired
very deep in Lout internals.  Jeff, please, can you elaborate on that?

Yes, tracking is not supported.  Yes, I guess that's not very hard to
add.  The problem is that Lout is a one man (Jeff's) project and he
only has so much time.
