Oh, I've done all such installing-procedures many times in
different ways.

Well, it seems, that I only had a problem in my
documents....

I had put a comment-character (#) in front of the line,
where I included the "mydoc"-file. The mydoc-file
was a copy of one of lout's default-config-files,
which produce the default-layout. I needed it because of
adapting lout to my personnel preferences.

With the new lout, I saw the fontdefs-error and so
I put the comment-character in front of that line.

But I have forgotten to remove the comment-char in
front of the SysInclude of the "doc"-file.

So, it was my error, not lout's.

So, sorry for that unneeded trouble here.

Ciao,
   Oliver

P.S.: For easier installation, I added some things like
      mkdir -p $(BINDIR)
      in the makefile.
Maybe it can be added to the regular makefile. I think
      that jeff may add this...?!
Maybe it is useful to put a "BASEDIR" into the definitions
of the BINDIR, LIBDIR, MANDIR, DOCDIR, so that adaption
      to personnel preferences is easier.
