Hi,

Assuming the IP address from DHCP is an externally routable IP address, one could use reverse DNS lookup to find the associated domain names. Similar to normal DNS query, see details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_DNS_lookup

So, if your is 1.2.3.4 you query DNS for 4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa PTR records to find which DNS names resolve to your IP.

Hi All:
How do I get our own Hostname & Domain name? I have DNS set up to resolve other hosts but that doesn't work to get our own information. I don't see the Hostname or Domain names available in the DHCP information either, which is where I'd expect to get them if using a dynamic address.

Thanks,
Luciano
