Nope... I just tried to compile monit on Solaris 7... the net.c code
doesn't get through, because the ICMP stuff has different names in the
Solaris implemtation... maybe BSD, too?

Ah, that's a showstopper if I haven't seen anyone before :)
Unfortunately I cannot test this on Solaris (no solaris box). Do you
think you can hack it together using __USE_BSD as you mentioned so it
works on Linux and Solaris.
Maybe Rory can test it on FreeBSD?

Unfortunately i have no regular access to solaris box after i entered civil service :(
