In my humble opinion, renaming the binary and meta files won't
cause a major disruption; for me, at least, fixing that is a
matter of doing a search/replace in my script directory. I do
think, however, that there is little benefit to be gained by
renaming everything either.
Monotone isn't particularly convenient without a few aliases and
wrapper scripts. The system is rather powerful, it's natural to
create a set of custom scripts to perform those operations you
have to do every day. It's nice that I can give those scripts
short names (like m, mt or mtn) without colliding with the
name of the real binary. In a way, it's an advantage that
Monotone has a long and unique name. Besides, calling Monotone
from the shell is just a matter of entering mono<tab> anyway.
Renaming everything is fine, but I would keep the name "monotone"
and simply create a symlink for the new name during "make
install". I wouldn't change the name of the MT directory.
Just my 0.02 Euros.
