Okay.  Change went into SVN, r5572.  Thanks.

But then I noticed something: already have the var 'quiet'...

So the attached patch went in as r5574.

It now gives a warning when starting to edit a blank file that
isn't locked,  but it did that before your patch too, so I think
that is fine.
