I fixed this on the development branch
(http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/7c9148b235eb).

Unfortunately, we're about to release version 3.8.0 and version 4.0 is
dedicated to the new GUI for Octave.  This means the change won't be visible
to users for quite a while.  To access the change you will need to either
build from Mercurial sources or just patch the m-file yourself.
