Follow-up Comment #14, bug #41067 (project octave): when package libcurl4-openssl-dev is installed (along with other dependencies listed in etc/HACKING), octave-gui no longer segfaults (on ubuntu 12.04). This seems somewhat strange given the segfault occurs in ibQtCore.so. I am guessing it is probably a dependency of libcurl which gets installed with libcurl that is actually resolving the issue. Not sure whether i should keep digging or not?
