Follow-up Comment #21, bug #49510 (project octave):

Thank you for your efforts. I do have a 64-bit JRE, but something is
non-standard about it.  It is found in

C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\server\jvm.dll.

Weirdly, there is no ~bin\client subdirectory, where jvm.dll would be expected
to be found. I don't know if this was an error by the company's IT department
or intentional. Looking at older versions of Java on my computer, it appears
it is intentional.

I would very much like to try out io-2.4.5, but naturally Dropbox is also
blocked by the firewall. E-mail and memory sticks are also blocked, so there
is no easy work around until it becomes part of a new Octave release, as
Octave forge itself is also firewalled.
    
Yes, test.m was my program that contained the script.
