Follow-up Comment #32, bug #49510 (project octave):

Thank you for the explanation. So I will stick to the 32-bit Octave, which can
find my Java. 

I don't know if my 64-bit Java is non-standard or not. From comment #22 it
appears to be typical, but maybe something is atypical in my search path,
registry or environment variables.
