Follow-up Comment #2, bug #49913 (project octave):
Hi Rik, the accent wasn't the only error, although that is indeed the only one
that will cause a latex compilation error, whereas the rest will simply fail
silently.
The names are also the wrong format.
The delimited needs to be the word "and"; commas are interpreted as secondary
names of the same author instead.
Furthermore, although the format "FirstName(s) SecondName" should be accepted,
in practice it causes problems, and the format "SecondName, FirstName(s)"
(note the comma) should be preferred.
On my thesis the first format resulted in the wrong output.
I would recommend the corrected string to be as I put it below :)
