Details:

I have been using uname.nodename recently to run different options depending
on the computer the code is running on. I have found that sometimes it gives
the pc name correctly, but other times it only gives "localhost". I can't
track down yet what causes it, whether it is how Octave is started, or some
other network settings... I have seen this on two different machines where it
correctly gave the pc name, but then later only gave "localhost".
