                  Status:               Need Info => Confirmed

Follow-up Comment #4:

Note also that if the result of 


     err = octave_uname_wrapper (&sysname, &nodename, &release,
                                  &version, &machine);


from oct-uname.cc, err = 0, the msg field is not changed, and  we still get
the original error message 


uname not supported on this system


from oct-uname.h.
