Follow-up Comment #10, bug #53369 (project octave):
Running octave.bat will try to open a cmd shell and run octave-gui.exe
I saw that several environment setting commands don't work anymore, e.g., set
OCT_HOME=%~dp0 (%~dp0 is a "macro" for the current directory); that may be one
cause of the errors I saw in octave.bat.
Anyway, fixing a few things in octave-firsttime.vbs wouldn't hurt :-)
I'll try your suggestions hopefully next Sunday, if no one beats me to it.
