Follow-up Comment #22, bug #54176 (project octave):
I know that this is an annoying problem if you want to have the last stable
release and also experiment with a build of the current stable branch from the
hg archive installed. But this problem affects very few people and will not
be an issue with the new version scheme that we will be using for Octave 5 and
later. So unless there is a really good simple solution, I'd rather not spend
more time working on it.
