Follow-up Comment #22, bug #54216 (project octave):

I noticed this bug today and did a little bit more work on it.  macros.texi is
now a constructed file from macros.txi.  See
https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/d0c070f5c67a.

Changing octave.texi to be a built file did not appear easy.  I made some
inital assays and got all sorts of problems with the build system.  I agree
that what we have now is good enough.
