Follow-up Comment #20, bug #47480 (project octave):

If you look into the code of usejava.m and javachk.m you'll see they more or
less have the very same basic code constructs.

Anyway, I think it could be a good solution if javachk.m could be improved to
check for built-in Java support, if only for its name.
But I don't see how that can be done w/o some built-in function, and if such a
built-in becomes available (can be called from n .m-file) it can also be
called directly.
