Follow-up Comment #17, bug #55509 (project octave):

Is this behavior by design? Seems like PKG_ADD/PKG_DEL shouldn't be clobbering
the user's base workspace variables, at least not by default. E.g. if I clear
all the variables I set in PKG_ADD, then I've still clobbered and cleared
previously existing user variables with the same names, and the workspace is
not as it was.
