Follow-up Comment #16, bug #56151 (project octave): @eflister: I think e-mail is possibly not a nuanced enough medium for communication. I simply stated the Octave project goals. And a close reading of my messages, shows that I am looking for a solution as well. The Ctrl+p/n is not ideal which is why I am trying to discover why it appears to work on Torsten's machine. I don't use Matlab, but 'octave --help' reports --traditional Set variables for closer MATLAB compatibility. This isn't a strawman, just something that looks like it would help.
