Follow-up Comment #38, bug #57439 (project octave):

With the "cache-absolute-diffs.txt" patch (on top of rev. e82d00e8be37 "merge
stable to default") I get the following (compare with comment #24):

ans = 961.59


and the io package load time, after several unload/load cycles (I read
"cache") is about 12-13 seconds.
All of this is comparable to the "make-absolute-diffs.txt" patch of comment
#22.

I really wonder why these change make Octave so slow on especially Windows,
and if it's a local feature of my box (although at work I see about the
same).
On Linux there isn't such a big performance degradation, AFAICS.
