Follow-up Comment #4, bug #58526 (project octave): With OpenGL plotting, you can start with a 2D plot and display it as 3D just by changing the view. That doesn't work for me with gnuplot. OTOH, plotting with gnuplot is effectively deprecated and unmaintained unless there is someone who wants to work on it.
