Follow-up Comment #13, bug #59273 (project octave):

As explained in comment #7, you can see the commands called from the testsuite
there: https://sources.debian.org/src/octave-io/2.6.1-3/debian/tests/

However, it looks like we’ll need a lot of back-and-forth before we can
solve the problem in this way, since you cannot replicate it on your
machine(s).

If you think it can help, I can give you access to a Debian container where
the problem is reproducible. If you want to go this way, please contact me by
email (my address is visible in my Savannah profile).
