Follow-up Comment #7, bug #59331 (project octave): The release candidate is probably not a debug build. And I assume you didn't explicitly disable compiler optimizations. So, it is possible that the compiler inlined some functions (which might make it difficult to follow the stack). I deleted "%APPDATA%\octave\octave-gui.ini" (is this the GUI config file you meant?) and ran `__run_test_suite__` again. This didn't change the high CPU load after the tests have finished.
