Follow-up Comment #17, bug #59373 (project octave): @John D: I agree that there is probably an error in the cmake build rule for hdf5 that causes it to build static libraries when it shouldn't. That error was most probably introduced during the transition from a configure to a cmake build rule in the changeset you and jwe pointed out. The patch in comment #12 should address that.
