Follow-up Comment #47:

Which CPU do you have?
What do you see for `version -blas`?

I'm not sure if `abort` is called from somewhere. So this could be a wild
goose hunt. Anyway, could you try the following?:
- Start Octave and execute `__debug_octave__`.
- At the (gdb) prompt set a breakpoint in the `abort` function by executing
`tb abort`. Continue execution of Octave with `c`.
- In Octave run the commands that cause the crash.
- Does gdb stop at the breakpoint? Which backtrace `bt` do you see from that
point?
