Follow-up Comment #7, bug #59628 (project octave):

I'm unable to duplicate the crash.

What version of Qt are you using?  I have 5.15.1 on a Debian testing system.

Can you get a stack trace after the crash?  Since this is executing without
the command line showing up, maybe the best way is to allow your system to
generate a core file ("ulimit -c unlimited" in bash), execute the command that
causes the crash, then run gdb on the resulting core file + the octave-gui
executable file?
