Thank you for your comment. I should probably have mentioned that I'm using
KDE Neon 5.21 User Edition (using Ubuntu 20.04).
Nevertheless, I unselected 'Use native file dialogs', as per your suggestion,
and it now works. Ideally, it ought work also with the option selected, but
at least now I have a workaround. Thank you.
