Follow-up Comment #11, bug #60750 (project octave):

OK, here is one more version.  I think there is still some room for
improvement in the way the dock widgets are created and the way the signal
connections are managed but it seems to behave the way I expect, at least for
the things I tested, including starting the GUI, using the new terminal widget
and starting the GUI from the command line, with or without dock widgets open.
 If anyone has time to test, I'd appreciate some feedback.  Otherwise, I will
maybe do some more cleanup and push some variation of these changes.
