Follow-up Comment #33, bug #60882 (project octave):

Imho, we don't need to aim for full syntax compatibility for the operators
that Octave has but Matlab does not have.

>From a user point of view, it is possible to write code that is compatible
with Octave and with Matlab without too much effort at all: Just avoid command
syntax if the arguments look like operators.
