Follow-up Comment #21, bug #50692 (project octave):

I never use a slideshow as wallpaper.  Only a static image or black.  But who
knows if windows still has a timer running although it does not change
anything.  But I can not see how that would insert newlines into octave.

By the way, I think I saw this problem once also in the CLI terminal long ago.
 Now I have a new computer and have not seen this problem any more.
